As much as I’d like to think that a tree stump serves as a natural, beautiful piece of patio furniture, the ergonomics of sitting around a campfire are nonexistent. Instead of slumping over the fire, lean on the manufacturers of slatted patio furniture with great lines, curves, and a tendency toward the comfort factor that will keep us enjoying the great outdoors all day and night long.
Areal is a patio collection realized by the Swedish company of Nola. Said to be the replication of the landscape itself, the table and bench are constructed out of laser-cut metal panels “shaped to resemble fields of crops when viewed from above.”
The UK-based company of Kirv also helped us see the possibilities of strong and ergonomic outdoor furniture with their designed range of powder-coated or electro-polished steel seating. As they say of their many variations of benches, stools and chairs, “stainless steel is one of the toughest materials available for outdoor seating and when finished correctly it has the ability to repair itself.” Kirv uses 316 marine-grade stainless steel instead of the standard 304 grade, making it anti-corrosive and strong – with the addition of chromium and nickel.
