Time to think about Outdoor Decorating

Now is the perfect time to get a jump on your outdoor decorating, especially if things need to be ordered. Outdoor rooms have transitioned beyond a trend to a permanent way of thinking. As we stay home more, creating a comfortable environment to enjoy outside is a great way to relax. Decorating an outdoor room can also be more creative, as you work with the flow of your surroundings.

One of the first things to consider is a spot that does not receive too much direct sunlight and is flat. A trellis can be installed to create a more private enclosure, and add drama to the garden. Choose a color that complements the plantings as well as the outside of the house. Define the space with an outdoor rug to add luxury or even a touch of whimsy.

The outdoor furniture manufacturers have responded to our call to the wild by offering a wider range of plush, comfortable seating. Rich, bold prints and textures can add a shot of color to coordinate with plantings. Sofas, lounge chairs, oversized ottomans, along with tables create an inviting space to lounge or entertain. An outdoor dining table can even be added for dinner parties!
Lloyd Flanders offers a stunning range of all weather wicker to suit both traditional and contemporary styles. The Grand Traverse group offers a stately tone on tone brown wicker style that blends seamlessly with the outdoors. A seating group could include the chaise, sofa, and lounge chairs punctuated by the incredible colors of their stone top tables. These tables have inlaid stones that resemble slate with earthy, rich colors.
To finish off your cozy retreat, add temporary light fixtures, with outdoor art or mirrors hung on the walls. Accessories of candles and lanterns, a water feature or a fire pit add ambience.

While it is always good to keep in mind how the elements can affect such an area, there is no reason why an outdoor room can’t have an air of frivolity. Consider items that are portable or easily covered. The room should be convenient to maintain for the season, though storage is best for the colder times. A luxurious outdoor room is an escape from reality, and will be enjoyed by family and friends alike.
