It is Earth Day today and you know what that means; it is time to start doing something good for Mother Nature! If you are looking to redecorate a room in your home or if you simply have some old furniture you want to get rid of, don’t just put your old furnishings at the curb to be picked up with the trash. Instead, think about doing something with those pieces that is much more eco-friendly. Here are 5 ways you can recycle your furniture so that it doesn’t end up in a landfill:
1.) Donate your furniture to a charity, shelter, home, or other cause. You’d be surprised how many organizations are in need of new furniture to get things done.
2.) Use the fabric from an old couch to make pillows or a quilt.
3.) Instead of tossing a piece of furniture, see if you can repaint, reupholster, or refinish the piece to give it new life.
4.) List it online on sites like Craigslist or Freecycle so that someone who needs furniture can get it for free while you get rid of it without having to put it at the curb.
5.) Ask your friends and family if they would like the furniture. More often than not, you can find someone to take the furniture off your hands.
Do your part this Earth Day. Recycle your furniture!
