If you are anything like me, you want your abode to look tiptop for the flow of people the season brings upon us. Whether you are having a huge family gathering, or throwing a small fun cocktail night and gift exchange, here are some tips that will revamp your home without killing the wallet.
Subtle or over the top, holiday decorating can be as simple as getting some new throw pillows. I try to spend money on things I’ll be able to use for more than the season, coat racks, wall art, pillows, themed-scented candles, charges, affordable stemware, they can all add up to a new vibe. Target had some great cranberry colored pillows last time I was there, and Glade has a line of holiday scents out , and a CD giveaway with purchase.
If you have the desire and budget, you could go all out and get a fireplace to cozy up to! Or a bamboo (green) island work center to expand that counter space for prepping food.
Decorative fireplaces vary in price, style, and size, so you can find one to fit you needs! It will warm up the holidays and be something you have for years to come. Electric or gel based, wall mounted or traditional and free standing, there is one for you!
Don’t forget the kitchen! The epicenter of many homes, my friends are in and out sneaking tastes, having wine, and offering to help. The holidays might as well be the time to add some work space if you need to do so. The one below is easily movable, cleanable, and green! It’s made from bamboo, and, again, it’s a piece that can be utilized for years to come.
This piece is great, a true work center you can move to your needs. Great for renters also, you can take with with you when you go. Below is a smaller version from the same line it’ll be great for smaller spaces for if you have little ones that like to help, you can put them at a safe distance from the heat and knifes.
Remember the holidays are a time to celebrate life, family, religious beliefs, and to be thankful for what we have. Hopefully an idea from this blog could help you do just that. ‘Til next time…
